VALDOSTA — Location and ownership can be the make-it-or-break-it qualifiers for any small business, so Greg Harris and Tanya Franklin decided to move their used car business from 5921 Bemiss Road to a south of downtown location at 601 S. Patterson St.

Harris and Franklin are co-owners of EZ Auto Sales and Services Inc. The business opened at the South Patterson location June 1.

They were able to buy the property they moved to, and say being near downtown is a better location for drawing the customers they’re trying to target.

“I like selling used cars because you have a better future,” Harris said. “You can reach out more to people who are not fortunate enough to be able to afford new cars.”

EZ Auto sells all makes and models, rents cars, provides credit repair and auto financing through the major auto financing institutions and sells auto insurance to buyers through Canal Insurance Co., a subsidiary of the Gaskins Company in Nashville, Ga., the owners said.

Franklin specializes in the credit repair service.

“People who have delinquent payment histories, bankruptcies or repossessions should come see us,” Franklin said.

“We have a buy here, pay here opportunity that will allow you to restore your credit.”

Franklin worked for Fisk Auto Sales on Bemiss Road for nine years, and Harris is into his second year of selling cars with EZ Auto since leaving his former business, Design To Shine Mobile Detailing.

EZ Auto keeps an inventory of between 20 to 30 used cars on the lot for shoppers, the owners said.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The lot is closed on Sunday. For information, call 229-219-0009.
