VALDOSTA – Scintilla Charter Academy has announced a full-day, fee-based pre-K program for students who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 1.
SCA’s preschool program will “support and enhance all aspects of each child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development,” according to the school.
Jennifer Denham, Scintilla director of communications and engagement, said the school plans to keep the program small, with 16-32 spots available pending if the school opts for one or two classes.
While priority is given to staff and board member’s children as well as the siblings of current Scintilla students, Denham said anyone may apply for the program.
Cost will be $485 per month for August through May, $250 registration fee and $100 supply fee in September and January. The school day times are still uncertain but tentatively drop-off is from 7:30-8 a.m. and pick-up at 3 p.m.
The application window opened Jan. 25 and will close Feb. 10. Applications received after Feb. 10 will be added to a waiting list.
A lottery for applications, if necessary, will be held Feb. 16.
People selected will be required to apply to kindergarten through the application and lottery process. Pre-k students with siblings already attending Scintilla will receive sibling priority for kindergarten.
Applications for kindergarten through sixth grade are open until midnight, Jan. 31. All applications can be found online at scintillacharteracademy.com.
Denham added the school plans to continue to expand in the coming years.
