What a beautiful picture of the mother and her two girls in the paper. We had the pleasure of watching this young mother play with her children at the brown bag lunch during the week. You just don’t see many mothers playing with their kids anymore.

Note to City: Survey the maintenance/cell tower area to get it deeded separate from the cemetery, change the name of that area to something like “City Maintenance Garage,” treat it like it has always been merely adjacent to the cemetery but never part of it. There, see, you’ve changed reality. No more rants.

Has anyone noticed the blinding light placed at the corner of the new gas station and Burger King at Exit 22? When traveling West over I-75, you can’t tell if it’s a vehicle coming over the bridge or the street light. Expect an accident to happen.

Last week the Democratic governor of Kansas said the Kansas National Guard could not respond to that week’s tornados like it did in the past because the guard’s resources are in Iraq. Well, when President Bush personally asked her about that statement, she said that she “misspoke.” So if you confront a liberal’s mumbo jumbo they always fall like a house of cards.

What’s with all the unsightly mammoth billboards cropping up around town? Where’s our zoning board? C’mon, guys, help us out. Billboards belong out on the interstate, not in the middle of town.

Would you please send a big thank you to Kim and Lea at Doctors Laboratory. These two ladies make my frequent visits quick and painless. They are such a pleasure, and it’s a plus to have these ladies serving the public.

To the person in Hahira: They were called volunteers. We didn’t ask them, they volunteered to come so we would meet our dispatch. Your mail may not have gotten out if it were not for them.

I have news for a recent ranter: Fifty years ago, we actually had televisions, telephones and even indoor plumbing.

It would be nice if Echols County School administrators would at least notify families if school is canceled. At the least, place a message on the answering machine at the Board of Education. At the most have teachers keep a list of student phone numbers and take time to give them a quick call. I’m sure we were not the only family waiting on a bus that never arrived on Monday morning.

Just when you think you have heard all the rants. Who cares who picks up the food bags, they all go to the same place. Thank you so much for taking the time to help the postal workers.

Come on, BellSouth, I live on Park Avenue and can’t get the fastest DSL service you have, yet across the street they can get it. About time for me and a lot of others to go to Mediacom Internet service if you can’t provide what we want.

The downtown crosswalk is a danger zone. When traffic is stopped by the red light, no-one can see the pedestrians crossing the street. Make them press the button for the crosswalk. Someone is going to get hit trying to pass between the cars.

We love our firefighters. Keep up the good work.
