Pike elected to Alapaha River Soil and Water Conservation District

David Pike of Lake Park, Ga., was recently elected to represent Lowndes County on the Alapaha River Soil and Water Conservation District. He will serve the Conservation District for a four-year term.
David was born and raised in Lowndes county. He married his High School sweetheart Sue Ann McLane Pike. They have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. They have lived in Lake Park Ga since 1972. David graduated from Lowndes High School and attended South Ga College and holds various certificates from Wiregrass Technical College with a background in mechanical engineering. David retired as Plant Engineer from ITT Thompson automotive manufacturing company. While working publicly he lived on family land managing row crops, timberland and cattle and he is still managing farms since retirement.
The Alapaha River Soil and Water Conservation District is a unit of state government that directs natural resource management programs in Berrien, Clinch, Cook, Echols, Lanier and Lowndes Counties. The District works with farmers, landowners, homeowners, and with other units of government to educate and actively promote programs and practices that support the conservation, and use and development of soil, water, and related resources.
