A GMC Acadia was turning left from the westbound lane of Ga. 76 onto Ga. 37 while a white Jeep was traveling east on Ga. 76; the Acadia failed to yield, hitting the Jeep, the statement said.

A passenger in the front of the Jeep was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

While the state patrol report did not name the fatality, an obituary submitted to The Valdosta Daily Times names her as Amy Pharr Hires. Staffers at the TJ Maxx store in Valdosta confirmed she was the store’s manager at the time of her death and that she had been in that position for 25 years.

No other injuries were reported. A portion of Ga. 76 was closed for about three hours.

The state patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team will investigate the accident.

Funeral services for Pharr will be held Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at Lenox Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Metzger and Pastor James Connor officiating. Interment will follow at Lenox City Cemetery beside the church. The family will be receiving friends at Purvis Funeral Home,Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 6-8 p.m.
