Valdosta City Schools announces inaugural cohort of Aspiring Teacher Leaders

VALDOSTA – Valdosta City Schools recently announced the members of its inaugural cohort of Aspiring Teacher Leaders following a highly competitive selection process. Each individual possesses exceptional commitment, innovation, and leadership potential within the educational community, the school district said in a press release.

“These ten educators represent the epitome of our school system’s values and dedication to excellence,” the press release said. “Without a doubt, we believe that this group will provide fresh perspectives, creative solutions, and a collaborative spirit for the VCS learning environment. The Aspiring Teacher Leaders Cohort is set to play a transformative role in the evolution of educational practices within our school system.”

Dr. Craig Lockhart, VCS superintendent, and Dr. Janice Richardson, director of leadership development, presented each member of the inaugural cohort with their official acceptance certificates during surprise visits to their classrooms.

The inaugural cohort includes Clay Brindger of Valdosta Middle School, Jennifer Gay of Sallas Mahone Elementary School, Danielle Greene of Pinevale Elementary School, James Lee of Valdosta High School, Robert McBride of Valdosta High School, Jessica McClary of W.G. Nunn Elementary School, Shelton Mobley of Valdosta Middle School, Cherelle Townsend of S.L. Mason Elementary School, Eleshia Turner of Valdosta High School and Stephanie Wade of W.G. Nunn Elementary School.
