LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Data centers create jobs for electrical contractors. Protect them

Published 5:59 pm Tuesday, April 23, 2024

For seven decades, Inglett & Stubbs has worked with American businesses, largely in the metropolitan Atlanta area. We employ a variety of industry professionals, including electricians, technicians, foremen, engineers, project managers, and more, to exceed our customers’ expectations and meet their needs. Our people define our business and our future.

Data centers are a large part of this business. We worked on our first data center construction job back in 1985 in Alpharetta, Georgia. Since then, our work in the industry has continued to grow. Recently, we estimated that data centers are responsible for over 1,700,000 hours of work per year for our team. As the need for data centers continues to grow, so does work for our team, and we are grateful to bring this economic opportunity to them.

The Georgia legislature recently passed HB 1192, a bill that would remove an economic stimulus program to bring data centers to Georgia. As the bill is currently drafted, growth for electrical construction workers and the entire state of Georgia will be stunted if this is made into law.I encourage Governor Kemp to veto this bill and stand in solidarity with Georgia’s workers.
