VALDOSTA — Girls on the Run South Georgia recently announced the return of Camp GOTR.
The camp will be offered during the week of June 10-June 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at three locations:
- Westside Elementary School, Valdosta
- Thomas County Middle School, Thomasville
- Spring Creek Charter Academy, Bainbridge
“We have been providing life-changing programming to girls ages 8-13 throughout the school year and we are so excited to offer our summer program again!” the organization said in a press release
Camp GOTR combines some of what members love about Girls on the Run South Georgia with all the fun of camp, the press release said. During the week-long session, rising third through fifth grade girls will enjoy building friendships in a fun and inclusive setting that includes interactive games, being physically active, and expressing creativity through arts and crafts and storytelling. Led by Girls on the Run South Georgia coaches, Camp GOTR provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for all girls to develop self-confidence, have fun with friends, and learn life skills they can use now and as they grow.
Girls will have the opportunity to participate in a version of Camp GOTR called “Girls Have Heart.” During their time together, girls will explore friendship by learning skills for connecting with new people and forming relationships, recognizing what it means to be a good friend, how to resolve conflicts with others, and more, the organization said.
