SGMC Health Foundation earns gold transparency seal

VALDOSTA — The SGMC Health Foundation was recently awarded the Gold Seal of Transparency on GuideStar by Candid, ranking it among the nation’s top nonprofits for openness and accountability in its operations, according to a press release.
The Gold Seal organization said it recognizes nonprofit agencies that demonstrate a high level of transparency by providing detailed information about their organization, mission, programs and financials. This recognition helps donors and stakeholders make informed decisions about supporting nonprofit organizations, the statement said.

As the philanthropic partner of SGMC Health, the SGMC Health Foundation said it plays a vital role in supporting the health system’s mission to improve the lives of all it serves. Through strategic partnerships and fundraising initiatives, the Foundation raises, manages, invests and expends gifts and resources to enhance and expand programs and services throughout the health system.

Candid’s GuideStar rankings are a global source of information on non-profit organizations. Its stated mission is to revolutionize philanthropy by providing information that advances transparency, encourages charitable giving and enables users to make informed decisions. Candid was formed in 2019 when GuideStar and Foundation Center merged.
