Throughout her career with LCS, McCall has served as an assistant principal at Lowndes High School, the director of curriculum and instruction for Grades 6-12, and most recently, the principal of LHS since 2015.

During McCall’s tenure at LHS, the school has achieved remarkable success both academically and in extracurricular pursuits, the school system said. Her leadership has contributed to the maintenance of a graduation rate exceeding 90% for seven consecutive years, as well as SAT, ACT, and AP scores consistently meeting or surpassing state and national averages. LHS has also been honored as a Best High School by US News and World Report, recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as a Military Flagship School, and has garnered numerous region and state titles in athletics, student organizations, and fine arts competitions.

These accomplishments led to McCall being recognized as the 2022 Georgia Principal of the Year by the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals.

“I am honored to serve in a new role as the assistant superintendent of teaching and learning,” McCall said. “Our school system has a well-earned reputation for excellence, and I am eager to be part of our legacy of success. Together, we will continue to foster an environment that nurtures innovation, encourages collaboration, and ensures every student has an opportunity to excel. It’s a great time to be part of the Viking Family!”

“Mrs. McCall has shown expertise and commitment to the success of our students throughout her tenure with LCS,” Superintendent Sandra Wilcher said. “Her leadership at Lowndes High School has set a standard for excellence that we are certain she will carry with her in this new role. Her passion for education makes her an invaluable asset to our One Lowndes family!”
