Online portal lets residents weigh in on Valdosta Police Department

VALDOSTA — The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) has added a public access portal to allow for comment on the performance of accredited agencies.

The purpose of this public portal is for CALEA to receive comments regarding the police department’s compliance with accreditation standards, which includes engagement within the service community, delivery of public safety services, and the overall candidacy for accreditation status, according to a press release from the Valdosta Police Department.

During the four-year accreditation cycle, the Valdosta Police Department is reviewed annually for its compliance with accreditation standards.

To access the comment portal for the Valdosta Police Department, please go to www.valdostacity.com/police-department. This portal is currently open and will remain open until the completion of the department’s annual review in July of 2024, the VPD said.
