VALDOSTA — Police in Valdosta are investigating their second shooting incident in a single day.
Around 10:41 p.m. Thursday, first responders headed out on an E911 call about a shooting in the 1700 block of North Ashley Street, a Valdosta Police Department statement said.
They found a 41-year-old man with several gunshot wounds to his upper leg. Police and sheriff’s deputies provided first aid until EMTs and the fire department arrived. The victim was taken to SGMC, where he is in critical but stable condition, police said.
Detectives determined that the victim and the shooter knew each other and had been in an argument.
Earlier, at 3:35 a.m. the same day, police had been called out to Park Chase Apartments on Old Statenville Road after an E911 caller said someone had been shot; a 32-year-old man was found in a stairwell with gunshots to the torso, police said in an earlier statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
