An anonymous tip led to the arrest of Zeakie Lydell Marshall, age 29, of 16846 Mill St., a boarding house in White Springs, on charges of possession of drugs with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis, according to the White Springs Police Department (WSPD).

On Saturday, Dec. 17, WSPD Officer Dwayne Aldridge submitted an affidavit for a search warrant to Hamilton County Judge R.B. Davis. In the affidavit, Officer Aldridge states that he received an anonymous tip on Friday, Dec. 16, that a drop had just occurred at Marshall’s residence and that there was one pound of marijuana, two ounces of cocaine and ecstasy pills at the residence.

According to the affidavit, Officer Aldridge went to Marshall’s room at the boarding house. Officer Aldridge stated in the affidavit that while they were talking, he smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the room and asked for permission to search the premises. When Marshall refused, Officer Aldridge called the State Attorney’s office to request a search warrant, according to the affidavit. Officer Aldridge stated in the affidavit, that while he was on the phone, he saw a screen on a window of Marshall’s room open and a bag of cannabis was pushed out from the room.

After Judge Davis issued a search warrant on Dec. 17, law enforcement officers from the WSPD and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) conducted a search of Marshall’s room, according to White Springs Police Chief Joseph Subic. He said that the officers found drug paraphernalia and 18 grams of cannabis.

Marshall was released on his own recognizance, according to the HCSO Arrest Report.
