Little River Missionary Baptist Church, located in Troupville adjacent to the Little River, was built in the early 1800s, possibly in the 1840s, not long after the congregation was founded.
According to a November 26, 1932, article in the Valdosta Daily Times, the Little River would often rise high enough to prevent churchgoers from attending services. The building was moved to Lowndes County’s new county seat, Valdosta, in the 1860s to the corner of Valley and Ashley Streets (northwest). Sadly, this building was destroyed by fire.
