VALDOSTA — Firefighters battled a fire at a Valdosta hotel Thursday.

At 6:04 a.m., fire units headed to a structure fire at Courtyard by Mariott, 1564 Baytree Road, according to a statement from the Valdosta Fire Department.

Smoke was seen coming from an exterior wall; the cause of the fire was a discarded cigarette, the report said.

Hotel occupants were evacuated and no injuries were reported.

The Valdosta Police Department and SGMC Health EMS assisted with on-scene operations.
