Georgia Christian hosts GCS Cup Friday, Saturday

VALDOSTA – The Georgia Christian School soccer teams kicked off their seasons with strong performances at home on Tuesday, March 4.

The varsity girls hosted region opponent Southland Academy for their season opener and delivered a dominant 6-0 victory. The Lady Generals controlled the match from the start, setting the tone for what they hope will be a successful campaign.

The middle school girls also took the field against Southland, securing a win to complete a sweep for Georgia Christian’s girls’ teams.

On the boys’ side, the varsity Generals took on Ware County in their season opener. In a competitive match, Georgia Christian came away with a hard-fought 3-1 victory to start the season on the right foot.

The Generals will now turn their attention to hosting the annual GCS Cup this weekend, March 7-8, where teams will compete in a showcase of talent on Georgia Christian’s home field.

Friday’s schedule begins at noon with Georgia Christian’s girls taking on Creekside Christian. From there, it’s Georgia Christian’s boys against FPCA; St. George versus FPCA (girls); St. George versus FPCA (boys); Creekside Christian against FPCA (girls); Georgia Christian versus St. George (boys); Georgia Christian versus St. George (girls); and Georgia Christian against FPCA (boys).

Saturday’s slightly less hectic with the first game beginning at 9 a.m.

Georgia Christian leads off against FPCA’s girls. Georgia Christian takes on St. George’s boys, followed by Creekside versus St. George (girls); FPCA against St. George (boys) and concluding with the girls and boys championships. Championships tentatively start at 2 p.m.
