“Helping people, before, during and after disasters.” That is the motto of an agency that dedicates its mission in helping survivors that have been affected by devastating disasters that happen all across the United States and much more.

It has been a little more than six months since Hurricane Helene first made landfall and affected the state of Georgia. There are those who have been minimally affected, and those who have been greatly affected. However, one thing remains the same, FEMA remains committed to Georgians and helping them on their road to recovery no matter how great or small the recovery process may be, according to a news release.

As part of the ongoing recovery efforts in Georgia to help those still in need of recovering from Hurricane Helene, FEMA collaborated with local, state and federal agencies coming together under one roof to help eligible survivors find affordable housing options.

This event was also open to all, whether one has or has not applied for disaster assistance and a great opportunity to speak with representatives face-to-face to answer any questions that someone may bring to the table to learn more about affordable housing options and other resources available.

“FEMA is here to help,” FEMA Media Relations Specialist James Wood said. “We are here because we see survivors that are still struggling and there is still a need for help and resources for survivors to help them towards their recovery process. I’d like to remind folks and say that recovery is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. It’s an ongoing effort; however, we are committed to Georgians recovery process, and we will be here for as long as it takes.”
