Sam Day, 61, of Day, Florida, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at the VA Hospital, Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Winamac, Indiana and worked in the construction industry most of his life. Mr. Day was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, a member of G Company 75th Airborne Ranger LRRP team. He was awarded two Purple Hearts along with a Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Day was preceded in death by his father, Walter M. Day and his mother, Vyllis Day, both of Lakeland, Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Howard Day of Day Florida; sister, Sue Harrell of Lakeland, Florida; grandchildren, Brittany Day and Ben Wilson; along with nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at Florida National Cemetery with full Military Honors at Bushnell Florida at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 29.
