Maxine Veal Cravey
VALDOSTA — Maxine Veal Cravey, 66, of Valdosta, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at the Lakehaven Nursing Home. Mrs. Cravey was born on Feb. 19, 1935, in Telfair County to the late Tom and Lena Allen Veal and had lived in Valdosta for 43 years. Survivors include her husband, Stacey Cravey of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Glenn Geren of Dasher; a granddaughter, Hilary Geren of Dasher; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Fronice Veal of Eastman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elsie and Charlie Shepperd and Juanita and Jerry Gillis, all of Atlanta; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Dasher Cemetery. Minister will be David Nelson. Glenollyn Budd Emme
HAHIRA — Glenollyn Budd Emme, 86, of Hahira, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at the Heritage House Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born on March 22, 1915, in Indiana to the late Rudolph L. and Glenn McCartney Budd and had lived in Lowndes County for 43 years. Mrs. Emme was a retired supervisor with Levi’s Clothing Manufacturer and a member of the Park Avenue United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Everett Eakins of Hahira, Mary and Henry Stueber of Punta Gorda, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Doris Cole of Chesterfield, Va.; her grandchildren, Wesley and Emily Heruska, Brandy Heruska, Henry B. and Deanna Stueber, William Stueber, Sandra and Rob Raymond, David and Susan Cole, Edward Cole, Michelle and Craig Simmons and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Emme, and a son, Leslie Cole. Memorials may be made to United Hospice, 101 Northside Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602. Lydia Greene Jenkins
VALDOSTA — Lydia Greene Jenkins was born Dec. 1, 1907, in Brooks County to the late Sylvia Robinson Greene and John Jefferson Greene. She departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Crestwood Nursing Home, Valdosta. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the 2nd Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Brooks County. She later moved to Valdosta and joined River Hill MBC where she remained a faithful member until her health failed her. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Preston Jenkins Sr. on Dec. 29, 1929. To this union four children were born: Wesley (Pete) Jenkins and Juanita, Edith Jenkins Willis, all of Valdosta, Edward Jenkins and Jean of Danville, Va., and Preston Jenkins Jr. and Dorothy of Charlotte, N.C. She was preceded in death by eight sisters and three brothers. Mourning her passing are 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn, a sister-in-law, Tina Mae Greene Crawford; and several nieces and nephews. Also bereaved are the special friends and caretakers at Crestwood Nursing Home and the Hospice Society. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at River Hill MBC with the Rev. W.R. Jenkins, pastor, and the Rev. Edgar Roberts officiating. Burial site will be held at 2nd Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Brooks County. Mrs. Tommie Lee Berrian McGowan
VALDOSTA — Mrs. Tommie Lee Berrian McGowan, 86, of Valdosta, passed this life on Dec. 16, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 25, 1914, in Lowndes County to the late Robert Berrian and the late Hannah Alexander Berrian. She was married to the late M.C. McGowan Sr. She leaves to lament her homegoing five daughters, Hattie Mae Berrian Brown, Laurine Berrian, Orpha Jacobs, Ellen Berrian and Alean Williams (Robert) of Valdosta; three sons, Joe Lewis Jones (Willie Mae), Mack McGowan (Cleaster), Charlie Berrian (Lois) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Berrian; son-in-law, Bishop L.B. Da
niels; one brother, Lucious Berrian of Waynesville; eight sisters-in-law, Flora Berrian, Anna Bell Berrian, Julia Mae Berrian, Bernice Berrian, Leola Berrian, Eloise Smith, Katie Ponder and Joanne McGowan; 36 grandchildren; 72 great grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren; best friend, Mother Annie Mae Tooley and the Grace Victory Church family. Pamela Kay Tyre Murajda
INMAN, S.C. — Pamela Kay Tyre Murajda, 50, of Inman, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, of a heart attack. She was the wife of Douglas Murajda and the daughter of Jimmy and Lois S. Tyre of Lake City, Fla. She was a professional photographer and garnered many awards through the Georgia Professional Photographer’s Association. She operated a consignment shop, Fancy This and Portraits by Pam while in Valdosta. She worked earlier as an instructor of piano. She was a graduate of Lowndes High School and attended Valdosta State College before moving to South Carolina. She was currently employed by Smith Premier Service in Inman and a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a daughter, Christy Sims Rucker, Abbeville, S.C.; two sons, William and Roger Murajda of Cullowhee, N.C.; three grandchildren, Meredith, Tyson and Robbie Rucker; a sister, Teresa Schultz, Valdosta; and brother, Jimbo Tyre of West Virginia. Graveside services were held Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, in Forrest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Abbeville, S.C., with the Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. VALDOSTA — Rubie Ethel Myers of Valdosta died on Dec. 19, 2001, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. She was born in Mitchell County to Jessie Otto and Nancy Jane Marshall Green. She was a factory worker at Metal Products and after retiring as secretary at Lomax Nutrition Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bea Myers; sisters, Georgia Edwards, Liza Crews, Argie Gay, Mattie Green, Cordie Bell Green, Ethele Coleman and Allene Goolsby; brothers, George Green, Eric Hawkins, Jessie Green and Otto Green. Mrs. Myers is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mottine Ellison, Vurna and Clarence Purvis, all of Valdosta, Miracle and Earl Wade of Quitman, Lunora and Tony Delrossi, Alvlene Royal, all of Valdosta; sons and daughters-in-law, Oklan and Lucy Myers of Lenox, Lennon and Dorothy Myers of Quitman, Ronfurd Myers of Valdosta; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Evie Joiner of Lake Wales. Beverly Jane Nichols
VALDOSTA — Beverly Jane Nichols of Valdosta died Thursday afternoon at her home after a lengthy illness. A native of Chico, Calif., she graduated from Chico State University. She married her college sweetheart George Nichols and they moved to Valdosta in 1942. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Book Review Club, and was a National Master Flower Show Judge. She is survived by her two daughters, Bette Jean Daugharty, Dean Brooks; and a loving son-in-law, Robert T. Daugharty, all of Valdosta; three grandsons, Nic Daugharty of Valdosta, Wright Brooks of Atlanta and Burton Brooks of Valdosta; two stepgrandsons, Robert T. Daugharty Jr. of Valdosta and George Daugharty of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Frances Nichols of Valdosta; and a very dear friend, George Powell Sr. of Valdosta. Beverly was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother, all of Chico, and later by her husband, George L. Nichols in 1990, and a son-in-law, Sam Brooks in 1993. QUITMAN — Nadine Yevonne Patterson, 83, of Quitman, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at the Presbyterian Home after a lengthy illness. Born in Echols County, she was the daughter of John Morgan and Edith Evelyn Simpson. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Quitman. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert J. (Joyce) Robinson of Quitman, Herbert Edward (Anetia) Robinson of Spokane, Wash., Jeff David (Bridgette) Patterson of Statenville; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Doris Hunter of Jasper, Fla.; and one brother, Randolph Simpson of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by two sons, Morris Morgan Robinson, Jackie Curtis Robinson and her husbands, Curtis Edward Robinson and Francis Marion Patterson III. VALDOSTA — Ella Roe, 76, of Valdosta, passed this life on Dec. 19, 2001, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 24, 1925, in Echols County to the late Willie James Gilmore and the late Elizabeth Richardson and she was married to Adam Roe Sr. She is survived by her husband, Adam Roe Sr.; 10 children, Adam Roe Jr., Pearl Vickers, Johnny Roe (Mary Francis), Helen Bell (Joseph), Linda Roe, Doie Roe, Michael Bernard Roe, Carl Roe (Pamela), Irvin Roe (Wanda), Ronald Lynn Roe (Bridgett); sister, Mildred Gilmore; brother, Eddie Richardson (Lavergne); sister-in-law, Margaret Gilmore; 29 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Wallace Conrad Trouille
JENNINGS, Fla. — Wallace Conrad Trouille, 76, of Jennings, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Trinity Community Hospital in Jasper, Fla. The Hilliard, Fla., native was the owner/operator of the Trouille Logging Co. for over 50 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Vickery and his brother, Billy Trouille. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bobbie Louise Trouille, Jennings; four sons, Wallace Bailey (Carolyn), Daytona, Fla., Cecil Trouille (Carol), Jerry Trouille (Sandra) and Wayne Trouille (Melanie), all of Jennings; three daughters, Theresa Trouille, Jennings, Annette Tubbs, Nevada, and Lynnette Keene (Robert) Lake Park; two brothers, Cecil “Buddy” Trouille (Jean) and Dean Trouille (Gail), all of Hilliard; three sisters, Ruth Libby, Hilliard, Bernice Herring (Kenneth), Texas, and Jeanette Musgrove (Mitchell), Hilliard; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
