Every year, the students get to come and watch the volleyball girls play a home game during school hours. It’s always an exciting match. The students fill the gym, applaud, cheer and urge the home team to victory. This year was no different. The Lady Dogs faced Columbia in front of an enthusiastic crowd of students and whipped them in three straight games 25-18, 25-23 and 25-10. This puts the Lady Dogs at 5-2 for the season.



Kyla Serrano once again led the Lady Dogs with her booming serve. Serrano logged 16 service points in the three games with eight of them aces. Serrano had five assists as well.



Ashley Rose, Suwannee’s tall up-front net player, hammered the Columbia Lady Tigers with seven kills. Rose also had six service points, three of them aces and four assists.



Heather Benson, Suwannee’s setter, had 10 assists, seven service points, three of them aces.



Alex Camunas and Stephanee Skipper Dogged the Tigers with kills. Both had five kills each. Camunas also had eight service points, one ace and four assists. Skipper had eight service points, three of them aces.



Merlonda Owens had two kills, one service point and one assists.

Lacy Smith had one service point and one assists.



Nereyda Pecina, Suwannee’s libero player had two assists.



Suwannee faces Branford at home Monday, Sept. 27. Come out and watch one of the best volleyball team’s the Lady Dogs have had in several years. The JV hit the courts at 5 p.m. and the varsity play at 6:30 p.m. Go Lady Dogs!
