What amounted to almost around-the-clock investigative work by Jasper Police Department Sgt. Michael Price, resulted in recovery of approximately $100,000 in stolen, goods, property and cash last week.

Acting on a concerned citizen tip, the wheels were put into motion by Sgt. Price, ending in the recovery and seizure of stolen property from a van, house and storage garage situated at 106 NW 3rd Ave., in Jasper. Arrested at the scene and charged with dealing in stolen property, were Andrew Hall, 43, and Danny Thompson, 45, both listed at the 3rd Ave. address. They were booked into the Hamilton County Jail Thursday morning.

Probable cause for a local search warrant was secured by Sgt. Price, after follow-up on the tip, through contact with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s burglary division, which alluded to the van, its location and contents in Jasper. The suspects were arrested at about 3 a.m., and both confessed to their participation in the theft ring and indicated a multitude of stolen goods was stored in an adjacent house and garage. The van was impounded and towed to Mac’s Repair and Towing in Jasper.According to Sgt. Price, who was assisted in the investigation by JPD Sgt. Marty Harper, a member of the County Drug Task Force, both suspects admitted to stealing the goods while working at a Dollar Land general merchandise store in Jacksonville. Additional photo page 3B.
