Two candidates have been interviewed for the head football coaching position at Suwannee High, Superintendent of Schools Jerry Scarborough said Tuesday.

Bobby Johns, head football coach of the Baker County Wildcats, and Jeff Littleton, defensive coordinator for the Cairo, Ga., Syrupmakers, were interviewed by the search committee, said Scarborough. Johns and Littleton are not finalists, Scarborough said, just two of the candidates interviewed so far in the search process.

In addition to the interviews, the committee drew up a list of criteria that the new coach must meet to lead the Bulldogs.

The new Bulldog head coach must develop relationships with the students and athletes, inspire hard work on and off the field, model actions and promote outstanding morals, involve him or herself in the community, help articulate a plan to develop a football program from the youth league through the middle and high school, work with athletes to obtain scholarships and develop programs to keep athletes eligible to compete, Scarborough said.

“The process is moving along as expected,” Scarborough said. “We’re constantly looking to see if we can bring the best coach to Suwannee High School to be an asset to our school and community.”
