REMERTON — The Girls Gone Wild camera crew has been all over the nation in search of young, attractive women willing to bare all for the cameras. This weekend the crew plans to park its bus in Remerton.

Saturday, the Girls Gone Wild bus can be found in front of Milltown Groove on Baytree Place. The time of its arrival was not known at press time.

Young women meeting certain criteria will have a chance to get on the bus and be featured in a Girls Gone Wild video.

Girls Gone Wild is known for patrolling party hot spots for women who agree to get nude or expose their private body parts in front of a camera for a T-shirt or pair of short pants. The women can also give consent for the camera crew to film them as they engage in sexual activity or intercourse.

Remerton Police Department Chief and Interim City Manager Mike Terrell said that he is aware of the Girls Gone Wild camera crew’s plans to stop in Remerton.

“I have spoken with the owner of Milltown Groove, and he informed me that Girls Gone Wild is passing through on its way to Atlanta,” Terrell said. “The owner has assured me that there won’t be any illegal behavior while the bus is here.”

Terrell said that Remerton police officers usually patrol the bar areas more on weekend nights than they normally do on week nights and added that they plan to stay in the background as long as no one breaks the law. However, officers will be on the lookout for misconduct, he said.

According to Official Code of Georgia Section 16-6-8, a person commits the offense of public indecency when he or she engages in sexual intercourse; lewd exposure of sexual organs; lewd appearance in a state of partial or complete nudity; or lewd caress or indecent fondling of the body of another person in a public place. Public indecency is punished as a misdemeanor offense.

After learning of Girls Gone Wild’s plans to visit Lowndes County Saturday, Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine said, “I am certainly 100 percent against people exposing themselves in public. Girls Gone Wild has given the wrong impression of how the people in our younger generation should conduct themselves.”

Prine said the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office has no intentions of patrolling the area while the bus is in town. However, deputies will be sent to assist Remerton police if the situation gets out of control, he said.

The Girls Gone Wild franchise was created by Joseph “Joe” Francis, who was arrested earlier this week after showing up to a scheduled court hearing on tax evasion charges several hours late. He was released from jail Tuesday and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device and remain at home until a Feb. 11 hearing, according to an Associated Press article.
