Home invasion robberies in Live Oak have jumped from 15 to 21, due to a reclassification of previously reported crimes.
LOPD Chief Buddy Williams told the Democrat that while previous reports showed 15 such crimes within the city limits since December, that number is now 21. That does not mean six such crimes have occurred since the last invasion just over two weeks ago, Williams said. It means six previous crimes have been recently classified as home invasions.
“Due to the reclassification of types of crimes that we work the official number is 21,” said Williams.
The most recent invasion occurred July 3 when four black males wearing ski masks stole $500 from a Hispanic residence at 823 McGee Street. One of the suspects brandished a semi-automatic handgun.
