James F. “J.F.” Geiger, Jr.

ADEL — Mr. James F. “J.F.” Geiger, Jr., 75, of Adel died on Jan. 30, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1927, in Alamo, Ga., to the late James Flournoy and Seffie Lee Lowe Geiger. He was raised in Alamo and lived in Adel since 1956. Mr. Geiger, Jr. was a owner and operator of Adel Auto Parts, Inc., veteran in the U.S. Army, Shriner, VFW, American Legion and was a member of First Baptist Church of Adel.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Christine Vann Geiger of Adel; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rodney and Pat Geiger of Adel, Terry and Verma Lee Conley of Lenox; one daughter, Rhonda Geiger of Adel; three grandchildren, Kenneth Conley of Adel, Jason Conley, Riverdale, Ga., Lauren Geiger Patterson, Adel; seven step grandchildren, Steve Bullard, Valdosta, Chris Bullard, Adel, Regina Lambert, Valdosta, Lisa Jones, Nashville, Belinda Myers, Sparks, Marsha Swain, Omega, Ga., Mike Connell, Lenox, Ga.; 14 great- grandchildren; one sister, Jimmie Ann Kimmons of Alamo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dot Geiger Mercer and Eloise Geiger Harbin.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Feb. 1, 2003, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Ruffin officiating. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery Annex.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. tonight at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, Hwy. 41 South, Adel. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. — Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home, Hwy. 41 South, Adel



Roosevelt Jackson

NASHVILLE — Roosevelt Jackson, 67, of Nashville departed this life Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Lakehaven Nursing Center after an extended illness. He was born July 22, 1935, in Berrien County to the parentage of the late Ben and Mandrene Jackson.

In addition to his motehr and father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Jackson, and one brother, Johnny Jackson.

Roosevelt leaves to cherish his memories three sisters, Corene Jackson and Irma Hughes, both of Nashville, Ga., and Betty Jackson of Savannah, Ga.; one brother, Ronnie Rogers of Philadelphia, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, from 5-7 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at the Chapel of Black and Son Funeral Home in Nashville, Ga., the Rev. Amos Bennett, officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery in Nashville, Ga. — Black and Son Funeral Home, Nashville





Thomas Franklin Nichols

PAVO — Thomas Franklin Nichols, 83, of Pavo died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Born in Lowndes County, he was the son of Charles Clower and Betty Lou Webb Nichols. Mr. Nichols had been a resident of Brooks County since 1944 moving here from Cook County. He served on the Brooks County Commission from 1956 to 1972, was a farmer and owner/operator of Lake Nichols, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nichols of Pavo; two daughters, Sue Nichols Manley of Pavo, Martha (Ben) English of Moultrie; two sons; Lamar (Pat) Nichols of Pavo, Derry (Margie) Nichols of Kingsport, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; Chris Manley, Vonda (Eric) Jones, Nick Murray, Harris English, Tricia (Robby) Hastings, Morri (Mark) Landes, Chase (Sandra) Nichols; five great- grandchildren, Drew, J.D., Tanner Nichols, Hamilton Landes, Ryan Jones; two sisters, Betty Jean Herring of Barney, Lou Nell King of Hahira; and one brother, June Nichols of Hahira.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today in Rosewood Cemetery in Barwick, Ga. with the Rev. Douglas Mitchell officiating.

Robert “Uncle Robert” Touchton

VALDOSTA — Robert “Uncle Robert” Touchton, 77, of Valdosta, died Thursda





y, Jan. 30, 2003, at Crestwood Nursing Home after a brief illness. Mr. Touchton was born on June 8, 1925, in Valdosta to the late James Henry and Alice Odessa Atkins Touchton and was a lifelong resident. He was a hardware salesman having worked for Whitehead Hardware for 20 years., a World War II Army veteran, a member of Corinth Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion, Woodmen of the World, sang with the Singing Americans for 23 years, directed the music program at Lake Park Baptist Church for 20 years and at Corinth Baptist Church for 18 years and a member of the Lake Park Historical Society.

Mr. Touchton is survived by two sisters, Sarah E. Peterson of Anaheim, Calif. and Alice (Judy) Brown of Valdosta; one brother, Dewey J. Touchton of Fayetteville, N.C.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, in the Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Cannington and the Rev. Stanley Luke officiating. Burial will be held in Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. He will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to service time. Mr. Thomas “Spoat” Cason, 70 of Pavo passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at the Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at the Disciples of Jesus Church in Thomasville with Pastor Israel Blake Officiating. Burial will follow in the Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Thomasville. — Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home of Quitman is in charge of arrangements.





Mr. Henry Davis, 79, of Quitman passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at his residence in Quitman. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home of Quitman.



Mrs. Essie Mae Ferguson, formally of Valdosta demised on Jan. 28, 2003 in Jersey City, N.J. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Harrington Funeral Home.



Home going services for Mrs. Georgia Mac Dilliard Newkirk of Valdosta will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003 at the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home with the Rev. Lewis Butler officiating. Burial will be held in Sunset Hill Cemetery.



Mose McElroy, age 85, of 2228 Smith Road, passed away on Jan. 23, 203, at South Georgia Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at St. Phillip AME Church. Rev. Theodore Hunter, pastor, will officiate. Interment will take place at Jones Settlement Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home of Valdosta will handle professional arrangements.
