Marijuana grow house busted by Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office

A Wellborn man was arrested Thursday and faces multiple drug charges after a marijuana grow house containing over 25 pounds of the drug were discovered at his residence, according to a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office report.
According to SCSO, pursuant to a search warrant served to Rafael Lopez, 41, 3597 CR 252, Wellborn, at 12:50 p.m., and following a search of premises, Lopez was found to be in possession of an excess of 25 pounds of marijuana, which was growing in 77 separate containers inside premises as well as in possession of drug paraphernalia.
After the officer read his miranda warning and waiving of rights, Lopez admitted to growing cannabis on premises. Lopez was also diverting electrical power to try to conceal the use of extra electricity to operate the grow house, as discovered and documented by Suwannee Valley Electric Cooperative, an estimated theft of utilities in excess of $1,000.
Lopez was arrested and transported to the Suwannee County Jail.
Lopez faces charges of trafficking cannabis, manufacturing of cannabis greater than 25 pounds, possession of a cannabis grow house, trespass and grand theft of utilities, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
