Officer, suspect recovering

VALDOSTA — A police officer shot in the line of duty Friday is recovering at a local hospital.
Valdosta Chief of Police Brian Childress said police officer Randall Hancock called for assistance when he responded to a non-emergency call at Three Oaks Apartments early Friday saying he had been shot.
Childress said the officer was shot multiple times and was taken to South Georgia Medical Center, he underwent surgery. The officer is now recovering and is in stable condition.
The shooter was described as an Asian male. The shooter was also shot in the exchange and is in stable condition, Childress said.
