Sermons named Soror of the Year

Creacy C. Sermons, has been named Kappa Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’s Soror of the Year. Each year the chapter recognizes one of its members for her professional accomplishments, community involvement, and active participation in the chapter’s programs and activities. She has been a member since 1983 and has devotedly served the sorority and community for 32 years.

She has served as Chairman or Co-Chairman of the following committees: Fundraising, Kappa Eta Omega’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, Educational Enrichment, and Global Impact. She has also served on the following committees: Graduate Activities, Little Miss Ivy, Sisterly Relations, Soror of the Year, Hospitality, Emerging Young Leaders, Internal Leadership through External Service, and Rituals.

She participates and serves faithfully in the community. Some of her activities include: The Haven, Salvation Army Bell Ringing, Heart Association Walk, Relay for Life, National Hunger Day, South GA Partnership to End Homelessness, United Way, Wiregrass Technical College, and MLK Day of Service. 

Her professional awards and recognitions include: Great Award as a teacher for Lowndes County Schools, Teacher of the Year for Lowndes County Schools, LOCOGA Federal Credit Union Board Member, and GA CAP Board Member. 

This Silver Star has been an assistant principal of Lowndes High School, Principal of Parker Mathis Elementary, and Principal of Westside Elementary School, wherein during her tenure the school was awarded the School of Excellence.
