ATLANTA — The State of Georgia is collaborating with Georgia Pet Foundation on a fun, beneficial new license plate that was created by Georgia artist Kyle Brooks, who called on his love of pets.

This license plate is integral in raising funds to help stop the crisis of pet overpopulation, which also leads to higher than normal euthanasia numbers, according to a press release from the Georgia Pet Foundation. The money raised by the new plate will go directly to fund grants provided by Fix Georgia Pets.

The foundation has partnered with Fix Georgia Pets to provide grants to organizations throughout Georgia to provide low-cost and/or no-cost spay/neuters for dogs and cats.

Animal welfare organizations (humane societies, spay/neuter clinics, rescue organizations) and municipal animal shelters in Lowndes County and elsewhere can apply for grants. Organizations must be a recognized 501©(3) non-profit or a government agency. Grants can be applied for at: https://fixgeorgiapets.org/grants/.

This new plate, which raises funds for free spay/neuter programs to help control the pet population, is now available for purchase at county DMV offices statewide or via this link: https://www.gapetfoundation.org/.
