City presents Click ‘N Fix to public

VALDOSTA — The city held a presentation this week for its Click ‘N Fix app allowing residents to alert the city to pot holes, litter and more.

Ashlyn Becton, Valdosta City’s public information officer, said the app was initiated to fix problems throughout the city, improve neighborhoods and be a platform where residents can work directly with officials to better their community.

“This streamlines the process of getting these issues fixed and be a little bit quicker than calling,” Becton said.

Anyone can download the app onto their phones by searching for “Valdosta Click ‘N Fix.” It is also available on the city’s website and is free.

Once the form is filled out, anyone can begin reporting issues they see around the city. To submit a report, a resident can follow the app instructions, such as adding the location of the issue with a description and photo.

Becton said taking photos is important for city officials to properly identify the problem.

“We need to see what you are seeing,” Becton said.

After a report is submitted, the relevant department will acknowledge the post, which means someone from the city has seen the report and will either directly send a team to fix the issue or begin the process needed to fix it.

This app works in emergency situations, as well as in day-to-day operations, she said.

During the latest storm, Click ‘N Fix worked with city officials to limit information received to only things related to storm damage. This allowed the city to take litter and pot holes off the list of issues and focus on downed power lines or road blockages.

In this situation, residents would only be able to submit storm-related issues to expedite the process of storm clean up.

“Dedicated public servants in our local city government are the ones who respond to Click ‘N Fix issues. When they are notified of a specific issue that falls under their responsibility, many are pleased to have an opportunity to make a positive change,” Becton said. 

“Communication is key throughout the process.”
