VALDOSTA — The franchises for Advanced Disposal Services and Deep South Sanitation were renewed at a county meeting Tuesday.
The Lowndes County Commission approved the renewal for both franchises, which were set to expire March 31.
County documents state other than alterations to the introductory paragraphs about the renewal, the agreements have not been changed.
Also during the meeting, the board approved a request from the engineering department to have Lovell Engineering Associated survey and engineer improvements to Lester Road.
The project is expected to cost $36,000, according to county documents.
The county held a public hearing for the approval of a basic decorative street lighting district during the meeting.
No residents spoke in favor or against the amendment, and the board approved adding 28 lots of the Kelsee Crossing subdivision into the county’s basic decorative street lighting district under the street lighting ordinance.
County documents state that two-thirds of the owners’ signatures for the proposal were submitted and verified by staff.
Residents will be charged the current rate of $61.50 per lot per year, according to the county.
There were no comments made by the county manager and no public comments submitted.
