VALDOSTA — Danny’s Music moved into a new building about a month ago and is settling in just fine, said Danny Crosby, owner.

The business was previously located inside of Crosby’s other store, Toads and Teacups Children’s Store, 1601 Baytree Road, Suite B2. The new location is 1601 Baytree Road, Suite C. The two suites are next to each other.

Before moving into a new building, Danny’s Music had outgrown the small space it occupied in Toads and Teacups, Crosby said.

“We actually tried to expand in the old building but we just couldn’t keep expanding,” he said. “We had to make a change.”

The move has about doubled the square footage of Danny’s Music, Crosby said. Perviously, Danny’s Music had about 750-850 square feet. The new building offers approximately 1,500 square feet of space.

With the extra space, Crosby said he has begun to expand what his store offers.

“We were not able to offer lessons because we didn’t have the space,” he said. “Now that we’ve moved, we have a studio where we are already offering different kinds of lessons. We have an amp room where customers can come in and try out different kinds of amps and guitars isolated from the other people shopping in the store.”

Currently, the store offers lessons for guitar, piano, violin, viola and band instruments, he said.

The extra space has made room for customers to walk around and look at display items, and for more items to be displayed, Crosby said.

“It’s an advantage for the customer, so they don’t feel like they are cramped in and have to pick one thing and then have got to go,” he said. “They are actually able to wander around the store and make their choices.”

With the move, Crosby has become an authorized Yamaha dealer and looks to continue to expand his inventory, he said.

Since moving, Crosby said he has seen a positive impact on his business.

“(People) were already excited when we told them we were going to do it,” he said. “And, they have proven that by coming in and (showing their) support of a local business. So, business has increased, yes.”

For repairs, Danny’s Music does repairs for some instruments including band instruments.

“If we sell to the customer, we are going to service the customer,” he said. “We aren’t going to leave them hanging.”

And while the move is still fresh, Crosby isn’t afraid to make another expansion if his business continues to grow.

“We may have to continue to look to expand … with the customer support we are getting, we really appreciate that, but, naturally, there is always room for expansion,” he said.
