Williams was taken to the Lowndes County Jail, and warrants were pending for charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, said Valdosta Police Department Capt. Bobbi McGraw.

Police reportedly recovered 128 grams of marijuana from a vehicle. The drugs have an estimated value of $2,500, said McGraw.

“A handgun was taken from his person,” said McGraw. “No one was injured during the operation.”

Police also recovered ammunition, a cell phone and approximately $160, according to narcotics officers at the scene.

As a part of the investigation, Omar Artis, 36, of Valdosta was arrested at his home near Moody Drive at approximately 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Artis is charged with three counts of sale of cocaine and was being held in the Lowndes County Jail, McGraw said.
