Georgia Power donates $50,000 federal government shutdown relief

ATLANTA – The Georgia Power Foundation announced a $50,000 donation to St. Vincent de Paul Georgia this week to help provide support to furloughed and unpaid federal workers and contractors in Georgia impacted by the partial government shutdown.

Through the fund, impacted families can ask for assistance by submitting a request to gapowerassistancefund@svdpgeorgia.org. Each email request should include the following:

— contact information (address, email and phone number)

— brief summary of situation

A St. Vincent de Paul Georgia caseworker will reach out within 24 working hours. Questions regarding assistance through the newly-established fund can also be submitted to gapowerassistancefund@svdpgeorgia.org.

St. Vincent de Paul Georgia said it “works to bring hope and help to those in need so they may achieve stability and move toward self-sufficiency.” The non-profit organization runs many programs benefitting residents across the state including Family Support Centers in North and Central Georgia, benefits screenings and direct aid support.
