LAKELAND, Ga. — The search continues for a missing Lanier County man who vanished nearly two and a half years ago.

“I have no new information to give his family peace or comfort because there has been no new leads,” said Sheriff Nick Norton of the disappearance of Brandon Lee Helms.

Helms disappeared Dec. 14, 2015, when he was reported missing from his home on Teeterville Road, said Sgt. John Olsen, at the time a detective with the Lanier County Sheriff’s Office.

When he vanished, he left without his car, so he was either on foot or got a ride, according to intial reports.

Helms is described as a white male, 6 feet tall and approximately 145 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

Authorities looked for him in the South Georgia/North Florida area, Olsen said. He moved to Lanier from Thomasville and has family in the Cordele area, Olsen said.

The sheriff’s office has said in past interviews Helms is not wanted for any crime.

“This case will remain open forever until it’s resolved,” Norton said.
