U.S. Coast Guard concert cancelled

The United States Coast Guard Band concert to be held at Valdosta High School’s Performing Arts Center on Sunday, March 10 has been cancelled due to budget conflicts.
“It was not an easy decision,” read a statement from the Coast Guard
The tour of the South, which in Valdosta was to be attended by 1,141 non-paying ticket holders, would have started March 6 and was supposed to run through March 15.
“We further regret that the tour was cancelled so close to its start- however, the final decision was delayed until today (Friday, March 1) under the hope that there would be some sort of resolution to sequestration,” said the statement.
According to the statement, per the Coast Guard Commandant’s guidance on the Coast Guard’s handling of sequestration (removal), the service’s priority during this time is to preserve those areas that best support its critical assets.
