VALDOSTA — Valdosta native Cole Exum has teamed up with Lafferty Motorsports out of Concord, N.C.
The 18-year-old Exum recently tested an ARCA Re/Max Series car at the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, N.C.
Exum, who has been working towards his dream of becoming a NASCAR driver since the age of five, was able to handle the car in all situations in the two day test.
“I was impressed with Exum’s performance overall, and believe he has the capability to impact the world of NASCAR if given the opportunity,” said Chris Lafferty, team owner and Camping World Truck Series driver.
“I will never give up on this dream and will do whatever it takes to make it a reality,” Exum said. “For years, I have dreamed of the moment I would get the chance to sit behind the wheel of a NASCAR (car). It is not just about making it in this industry that draws me to it. It is the possible impact I could have on the world and the lovers of the sport. I truly appreciate the opportunity Lafferty Motorsports has given me and hopefully we can make my dream come true.”
Next for Exum and Lafferty Motorsports is assembling solid sponsorship for the team.
“Of all sporting investments, NASCAR has the highest return rate and it is an industry definitely worth investing in,” Lafferty said.
