Authority: Business interested in creating 186 jobs
VALDOSTA — The Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority continues to work with a company that would bring 186 jobs to the area.
The project represents a $100 million capital investment in the community, said Andrea Schruijer, executive director. The new business would be classified as manufacturing.
The development authority has been working with the business for three years, Schruijer said. According to the meeting summary, staff has been working with the company to begin construction in 2018.
She said she can release no other information about the project.
The authority is also in talks with a company for a potential manufacturing business in the Hahira Business Park, she said.
The authority received its audit at the meeting Tuesday.
Mark Rogers presented the audit and said the authority is on track and there do not appear to be any problems or anything out of the ordinary with the audit.
The authority has set the date for its strategic planning session. The session will be April 27; however, the location for the planning session has not been set.
A strategic planning session is similar to a county or city retreat, Schruijer said. It allows the authority members to talk about issues outside of the normal meeting environment. The session will be open to the public.
The VLCDA meets 5:30 p.m., the third Tuesday of every month, at 103 Roosevelt Drive. The meetings are open to the public.
