TIFTON — The Run for Love had a double winner in 2019.

Twenty-year-old Cameron Kaltschnee won the one-mile run and then came back to take the 5K. Kaltschnee, who listed his home state as Iowa on one form and Texas on another, won the initial race in 5:41. Following the break between races, he sped to victory in the 5K in 18:39.

Run for Love took place last Saturday at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Race courses took them around the campus before finishing at the Red Hill Athletic Center. The annual event benefits the Tift County High School cross country teams.

Second place in the one-mile run went to Brady Solomon of Nashville, who completed the course in 6:35. Tifton’s Emily Golden was second in the 5K in 20:11, edging Jared Hammond of Bonaire, whose time was 20:13.

Rounding out the top five mile runners were Luke Solomon of Nashville in 6:47, Alex Shepherd of Tifton in 7:10 and Kaden Kaltschnee of Algona, Iowa, in 7:56. The fastest female finisher in the mile run was Morgan Brey of Tifton at 8:08.

After Kaltschnee and Golden and Hammond in the 5K, fourth went to Blair Golden of Tifton in 20:55 and fifth place was Bret Wagenhorst of Tifton in 21:21.

Six-year-old Tanner Shirts was the youngest to cross the finish line in the mile.

Eleven was the youngest age to complete the 5K and there were a handful of them: Trey Dorminey, Emma Grace Turner-Thompson, Owen Davies, Bailey Vice, Isaac Beck and Taylor Sutton.
