UNG confers degrees for summer 2024 graduates

DAHLONEGA — For the summer 2024 semester, the University of North Georgia (UNG) awarded about 500 degrees and certificates to graduates.

About 260 of the graduates participated in the summer 2024 commencement ceremony held July 26 at the Convocation Center at UNG’s Dahlonega Campus.

Valdosta: Robert Evans, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Nashville: Sammy Hand, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Spatial Analysis.

Metzler named to the New York Tech dean’s honor list

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — Madeline Metzler of Lake Park was named to the Spring 2024 dean’s honor list at New York Institute of Technology.

To qualify for this academic honor, a student must earn a GPA of at least 3.5 and complete 12 or more credit hours without any incomplete grades.

Georgia Military College announces president’s list

VALDOSTA—Georgia Military College announced its president’s list for Summer 2024.

Area students include: Sarah Adames, Nikkie Ballard, Laynie Basford, Brent Biles, Emily Coombs, Wyatt Fender, Cierra Gibbs, Kierra Gray, Jackson Grover, Sabina Michael, Bryan Schell, Wanisha Spence, Nina Stubbs, Rebecca Ward, Sandra Whitlock, Lindsay Whitmer and Alexandria Worthy.

Georgia Military College announces dean’s list

VALDOSTA—Georgia Military College announced its dean’s list for Summer 2024.

Area students include: Jaleigh Arellano, Toni Berryhill, Kaydence Bryant, Alexandria Clanton, Jonathan Crowell, Jayme Evanoff, Lashae Fiffie, Keefer Guilbault, Brianna Haefele, Hope Hiers, Alexis Isbell, Ethan Joiner, Taryn McCollum, Kalaya Mintz, Alexander Munoz, Terell Murray, Christin Osborne, Ariel Platt, Jacob Reid, Maryleigh Schunhoff, Skyler Shields, Morgan Simmons, Kaitlyn Taylor, Courson Taylor, Jadie Thompson and Gracie Thompson.

SRTC Vet Techs have 100% pass rate

THOMASVILLE — The most recent graduates of Southern Regional Technical College’s Veterinary Technology program achieved a 100% passage rate on the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE), which is administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards. The VTNE is a three-hour exam consisting of 170 questions covering nine domains of responsibility deemed essential for veterinary technicians.

Taylor Brittain of Whigham, Austin Forbeck of Sylvester, Sarah Kirsch of Pelham, and Elaina Lee of Nashville completed their coursework in the spring semester. They were pinned in April of 2024 and are eligible to take part in the college’s commencement ceremony on July 31. Each graduate passed their board exam on the first attempt. This 100% first-attempt pass rate is a major accomplishment for this program and its students, as that percentage is well above the national average of 70.31% for similar programs.
