Business About Town for May 26

— Valdosta is getting a new discount store. Five Below, a chain of retail outlets selling most of its goods from $1-$5, is under construction at the Valdosta Mall. The store is expected to open May 31.

— Lowndes County is losing one of its eateries. Autry’s Bar B Que on South Patterson Street has a sign out front announcing its permanent closure May 31. I’ve eaten many a sausage dog (with mustard) at this place over the years.

— Another food spot in Valdosta has closed its dining room for good. Jaws Seafood & Chicken on North Ashley Street has converted over to a drive-through-only format.

— A new company has opened in Lake Park. The Shed Company, offering rent-to-own on portable buildings, chicken coops and dog kennels, is located at the intersection of U.S. 41 and Peat Moss Road.
