Comic Review: Jughead: The Hunger
Yes, this is a real comics title. Yes, it’s an on-going new series.
And surprisingly, it’s pretty interesting.
“Jughead: The Hunger” is the lovable, felt-crowned Archie character transformed into a werewolf in a horror-drama comic.
Two issues old now.
Archie may have to worry about Betty being jealous of his also love for Veronica. Jughead has to worry about being chased by Archie and Betty as well as Betty’s werewolf-hunting relatives.
Meanwhile, Jughead remains a fugitive. On the run. Looking over his shoulder. And wondering about the next full moon.
Oh, yeah, and Reggie Mantle finally gets his. Werewolf Jughead takes him out of the picture.
From “Riverdale” to other more “real-life” Archie titles to “Jughead: The Hunger” under the Archie MadHouse imprint, Archie Comics continues doing different things with its generations-old characters.
“Jughead: The Hunger” is a long way from the Archies singing “Sugar Sugar” and Sabrina and the “Groovy Ghoulies.”
However, there are still plenty of Archie titles featuring the characters in their original comic format and illustrative style.
But “Jughead: The Hunger” is something different and fun.
