Kirklands to welcome visitors to wonderland of lights

MOULTRIE, Ga. — Hannah Kirkland is planning for a visitor every Friday and Saturday until Christmas. Santa Claus himself has got her house on his itinerary.

Kirkland and her husband, Craig, put up a large Christmas light display back in 2014, and it apparently got Saint Nick’s attention. He’s been visiting around Christmas every year since then.

The Christmas lights are back at 1312 Third St. S.E., and Santa Claus will be there 6-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights, Dec. 1-2, 8-9 and 15-16. He’ll have candy-filled canes to give to each child, and children can share their Christmas wishes with the jolly old elf.

If a group, such as from a church, would like to visit on another night of the week, Kirkland asks that they call her at (229) 891-0313 so she can make arrangements with Santa. This is his busy season, after all.

It’s free to see the lights and free to talk with Santa, Kirkland said.

Meanwhile, though, the Kirklands have identified two area families who won’t have much of a Christmas without some help. Donations are being accepted for them.

“We’re just trying to give back to our community,” Kirkland said.

The Kirklands are also the first site on The Moultrie Observer’s Holiday Lights list, which begins on today’s Page 2A. To have your Christmas display added, call Kevin Hall at (229) 985-4545 or email him at kevin.hall@gaflnews.com.
