Vikettes 2-1 at weekend tournament

The Lowndes softball team finished 2-1 at the Hawk/Bulldog Tournament at North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee.

Sophie Sumner hit a home run and three RBIs, Rylin Hedgecock threw a no-hitter in 4 innings and the Vikettes earned a 7-1 win against the Loganville on Friday.

Sumner batted 2 for 3 with a double in the win and Madison May had two RBIs for the Vikettes. Jolee Camp pitched 2 innings in relief, allowing two hits, a run and one walk.

May had a homer and two RBIs in Lowndes’ 5-3 loss against Mill Creek on Saturday.

Sumner finished with two hits, including a double and an RBI. Camp surrendered seven hits for five runs, struck out four and walked one in 3 1/3 innings. Joiner Merritt gave up no runs, a hit and a walk in 1 2/3 innings.

May had a home run and two RBIs in Lowndes’ 8-6 win against Buford.

Hedgecock had two hits and three RBIs. She pitched 6 innings, allowing 10 hits and six runs with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Jacie Johns scored two runs and Kayden Dickey had two hits and scored a run.

The Vikettes travel to Worth County on Wednesday before returning to Atlanta to face West Forsyth, Hillgrove, Lassiter and Creekview.
