Minnie Lee Roe Futch
Minnie Lee Roe Futch, 79, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, at the Clinch Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Futch was born, Sept. 27, 1927, in Lanier County to the late John E. Roe and Sallie Thomas Roe and had lived in Clinch County most of her life. She had worked at Brockway Standard as a machine operator and was a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Gilbert and Emma Lee Dyal; one brother, Charles Roe; one grandson, James Matthew Futch; and one great-grandson, Levin Pafford. She was the widow of Jessie Warren Futch
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-laws; Norma and Darrell Wilson, Waycross, Debra Davis and Mitch Carlsen, Homerville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Wanda Futch, David and Carol Futch, all of Homerville; two sisters, Ave Nell Touchton and Johnnie Faye Vest, both of Homerville; one brother, James Ottis Roe, Houston Texas; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Services for Mrs. Futch will be held Thursday, March 8, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Shiloh Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Internment will be in the Shiloh Church Cemetery. Mrs. Futch will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. Mrs. Futch will be carried to the church one hour prior to the services. — Roundtree Funeral Home, Homerville

Gene Ray Browning
Gene Ray Browning, 69, of Madison died Friday, March 2, 2007, at his home in Madison, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Madison, Fla. Family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Beggs Funeral Home-Madison Chapel, 1-850-973-2258. Burial will follow in Cherry Lake Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Browning was a native of Tampa, Fla., living most of his life in Madison, where he was a watermelon shipper/broker for many years. He was a member of the Florida Watermelon Board of Directors and Executive Committee; Board of Directors for the National Watermelon Association since 1978; recently appointed lifetime council member; he was appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture to the National Watermelon Promotion Board during 1995 until 1997; member of First Baptist Church in Madison and attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Madison. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend; he loved fishing, golfing, dancing and the company of good friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Browning of Madison; mother, Mildred Browning of Madison; three sons, Ray and Debbie Browning, Mike and Bandi Browning, Mark and Jennifer Browning, all of Madison, three daughters, Sabrina and Todd Whitaker of Madison, Andria and Randy Blitch of Gainesville and Kim and Alan Whigham of Madison; one sister-in-law, LaVaughn Browning of Madison; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. — Beggs Funeral Home-Madison Chapel, Madison, Fla.

Emily Jackson Cannon
Emily Jackson Cannon, 62, lifelong resident of Valdosta, died on Monday, March 5, 2007, at Shands in Gainesville, Fla. Born on Oct. 9, 1944, in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late W.B. and Mattie Clyde Peace Jackson. Emily was active in the Emmaus Community and was an active member of the Valdosta Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce. She was employed by The Links as a property manager and was a member of First Untied Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Ryan Dennis Cannon of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonita and Rannell Cotton and Faye and Gilbert Brantley, all of Valdosta; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Susan Jackson, Wade and LaVerne Jackson and Kenneth and Carolyn Jackson, all of Valdosta; and a wide extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 8, 2007, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Redland Cemetery in Valdosta. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
