House found in violation of codes
LIVE OAK — At a code enforcement hearing, on Thursday, July 28, the City of Live Oak’s magistrate found the Let’s be Hero’s Foundation in violation of Article 9 housing regulations and codes.
The owner of the property at 313 Scriven Ave. must remove trash and weeds within 30 days to come within compliance. After the 30 days, if compliance is not met, an administrative fine will begin at $250 a day until compliance is met.
Roy Rodgers, the building inspector, said the building was in fairly good shape. He estimated it would cost less than $10,000 for the building to be made compliant.
However, both he and Erica Williams, city code officer, failed to make contact with the owners of the building.
Lauren Paulk, the code enforcement special magistrate, scheduled to check for compliance at the next code enforcement hearing on Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.
“If these violations are remedied and when they are remedied, I’ll determine if the fine I just set is still appropriate,” Paulk said.
Paulk also released her findings for the Blumenthal case heard at the June hearing. She found Blumenthal Properties in violation of Article 10: hazardous building to public safety, health and general welfare.
Blumenthal was given 30 days from the date of the order, July 28, to have his property at 13317 N Boulevard demolished.
After the 30 days, a fine of $100 a day will be assessed and accrued until compliance.
