Pate family in annual New Year’s sing
The Pate Family Singers will be singing at Grace Baptist Church on New Year’s Eve once again. This has been an annual event for several years but it will be the first one since our brother Joe went to be with the Lord. We will be doing a tribute to Joe at the beginning of the service.
The Pate Family Singers officially “retired” in 2002, but we have continued the tradition of singing on New Year’s Eve. Our history at Grace Baptist goes back as far as the establishment of the church, having sung there in the early days in the old building. Kristy will be joining us again this year, playing and singing. There has been only one year in Kristy’s life that she hasn’t been at a New Year’s Eve sing with us, but she started actually singing at the age of five. Lanny Jones has sung with us for the last thirteen years. For Evelyn and me, this will be our 36th New Year’s Eve sing together. The other member of the original group, our sister Ezella, moved to Georgia after 20 years with us.
The pastor of Grace Baptist, Rev. Orvis Amerson, along with the members of the church has been great supporters of The Pate Family Singers, as well as great friends. Everyone is invited to come out and be with us this year. This sing will start at 8 p.m.
