Inspection and annual review of Thomasville Police Department
5:30 p.m., N. Broad St., Downtown Thomasville
An impressive review of the Thomasville Police Department. The public is invited to witness the annual Thomasville Police Department Review. This police command inspection will include a community meet-and-greet with the officers. Free admission.
39th annual Children’s Rose Bud Parade
7 p.m., Broad Street, Downtown Thomasville
Possibly the cutest parade in the area featuring hundreds of area children. Free admission.
Power of the Past Museum
9 a.m. to 6 p.m., 882 Airport Rd. (off GA 122/Pavo Road)
Located at the Thomasville Regional Airport, the museum is home to the extraordinary personal collection of some of the oldest and rarest aircraft engines and aviation memorabilia of the James Dekle family of Thomasville. For more information call (229) 226-3010 or visit www.powerofthepast.org.

Plein Air Painting /plane er/ adjective / 1: a phrase borrowed from the French equivalent meaning “open (in Full) air” painting
This preview exhibit features works by Katie Dobson Cundiff, Bill Farnsworth and Mary Erickson, award-winning members of Plein Air Professional Painters of the Southeast (PAP-SE). These and other artists will return on October 4-8 to paint plantations, historic rural towns and charming Downtown Thomasville Broad Street for a special event, Plantation Trace En Plein Air. Presented by Pines & Palms — The Georgia Florida Artists Association.

11th Annual Orchids on Parade
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., inside the Municipal Building, 144 E. Jackson St.
Showcasing orchids grown by members of the Thomasville Orchid Society in a natural habitat. Members will be on hand to answer questions. Free admission. Donations appreciated.
96th Annual Rose Show
1 to 5 p.m., Broad Street at Remington Avenue, Downtown Thomasville
Ribbon cutting ceremony with Miss Georgia and local dignitaries. View hundreds of beautiful roses from regional growers. Free admission.
Division I – Horticulture; Division II – Arrangements; Division III – Photography
**Bring your beauty or beauties to the back of the Rose Show Tent Friday, April 28 between 7 and 10 a.m. Show display items provided include: vases, tags, mats for photo entries, table easels and water. Arranging is easy; cut your stems as long as possible, use foliage for simple accents and a pencil when filling out your tag. Know your rose by name or you can ask one of the rose specialists for advice.
Fashion Show Luncheon
12:30 p.m., Thomasville Garden Center, 1102 S. Broad St.
Tickets for the Fashion Show Luncheon are $15 per person and must be purchased in advance. Don’t miss this opportunity to kick-off Rose Show and Festival weekend with a delicious lunch and divine fashion. Tickets are available at the Visitors Center, 144 E. Standard Flower Show “Totally Groovy 70s!”
1:45 to 5 p.m., Thomasville Garden Center, 1102 S. Broad St.
Ribbon cutting ceremony with Miss Georgia and local dignitaries. Seated picnic luncheon/fashion show begins at 12:30 p.m. (tickets required for fashion show). Free admission to flower show. The Standard Flower Show is sponsored in part by Thomas County Federal. $3 donation suggested.
69th annual Rose Parade “Locally Grown Heroes”
6:45 p.m. — Pre-parade mini concert by The Kings Voices
The Kings Voices a cappella group from First Baptist Church of Thomasville will present a mini concert featuring a brand new arrangement of “Georgia on My Mind” followed by “The Star Spangled Banner” that were both arranged by Derric Johnson, who for 33 years served as a creative consultant for Walt Disney World where he arranged and produced Epcot Center’s The Voices of Liberty, America’s premier a cappella stylists.
7 p.m., Broad Street, Downtown Thomasville
Watch as Thomasville comes to life with colorful floats, marching bands, stilt walkers and much more. Free admission. Local Boy Scouts will have chairs set up in the 200 block of North Broad Street under the shade of the beautiful oak trees. $5 per chair. 19th annual Street Dance

Ribbon cutting ceremony with Miss Georgia at 10 a.m. Enjoy beautiful roses, wild flowers, horticulture settings, potted plants, hanging baskets, table settings and more.
Redesigned Art in the Park
10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Paradise Park, 403 S. Broad St.
Featuring over 30 fine arts and crafts vendors including horticulture and regional authors. Delicious food options including everything from chicken wings to egg rolls to kettle corn and more. You’ll also find vendors selling some of the finest handmade Georgia food products to take home with you, from Georgia Olive Farms olive oil to bags of stone ground grits. Children’s activities including face painting, temporary tattoos, outdoor games and Hover Archery throughout the day. Free admission.

11 to 11:45 a.m. — Interactive Story Time by Southern Shakespeare Company — This high energy and fun performance will delight the young and young at heart. Main stage. Free admission.
Noon to 3 p.m. — Live music featuring Bleu Burden. Main stage. Free admission.
Horticulture area featuring a wide variety of plant vendors. From rose bushes to succulents to old-timey favorites, plant vendors will be on-site to help you create the garden of your dreams. Stop and smell the roses from Thomas County Hardware, enjoy succulents from South Georgia Succulents and find your favorite old-timey plants courtesy of Birdsong Nature Center.
This year, Art in the Park falls on Independent Bookstore Day. To celebrate, the City of Thomasville is partnering up with downtown’s local bookstore, The Bookshelf, to bring local and regional authors to the park to share their stories with visitors. Come peruse the writing of authors from all genres.
Take a Taste of the Festival Home with you including Georgia olive oil from Georgia Olive Farms, stone ground grits from Gaylay’s Grits, fried pecans by Popi & Mimi’s Pecans, frozen sausage from Hubbards Country Meats, hand-made chocolates from Sweet Cacao Chocolates and old-fashioned, hand-made brittles from Earnestine’s Old Fashioned Brittle.
Joyride Bike Rentals will offer a balance bike rides and course for children 1 to 6 yrs. Adults can take a spin on an Ebike (electric bike). Free admission. Guided tours will available throughout the day beginning at Paradise Park. For more information and tour reservations, call (229) 236-2453.
Enjoy a Segway Experience with Tallahassee Segway Tours in the Park. Learn how to balance and enjoy the glide. Free admission. For ages 14-plus. Bark in the Park
10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Paradise Park, 403 S. Broad St.
Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society presents Bark in the Park. The children, in particular, really enjoy this event which will include contests for Prettiest Eyes, Cutest Costume, Best Trick, Prettiest Coat, and Owner/Dog Look-A-Like. There will also be raffles, prizes and trivia. It’s generally fun for the whole family, and event proceeds will benefit the lost, homeless, abused and abandoned pets in our community. Some go all out for the costume contest … dressing up both the canine and their human companion. The tricks are often very challenging and demonstrate the many hours of quality time spent with their favorite person.
