Lady Generals advance to final four
Georgia Christian School
HAHIRA — The Georgia Christian School varsity volleyball team is headed to the final four after an impressive victory on Saturday, defeating Harvester Christian to punch their ticket to Newnan on Tuesday.
The Lady Generals took full advantage of home-court energy, with Valwood School graciously allowing Georgia Christian to host the game at their facility after Hurricane Helene damaged GCS’ gym. Fans packed the stands and provided an electric atmosphere that helped propel the team to success.
“We couldn’t have done it without the support of our incredible fans,” said Coach Carrie Johnson. “It felt like a true home game, and we owe a big thanks to Valwood for making that possible.”
Georgia Christian won sets of 25-10, 25-20 and 25-19.
The Lady Generals now set their sights on the final four, where they will face off against some of the best teams in the state. The game will take place at the Heritage School in Newnan on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., and the team is calling on their loyal supporters to come out once again and cheer them on as they continue their run for the championship.
Georgia Christian is set to take on Grace Christian of Bainbridge in the semifinals. Grace, the No. 2 seed in the bracket to GCS’ No. 3, won their quarterfinal match against LaGrange Academy, 3-0.
Should the Lady Generals prevails, they will face either Westminster Christian or their hosts, Heritage. Heritage is the top-ranked team in Class AA. Westminster, No. 5, pulled an upset over Holy Spirit to reach the semis.
