Wiregrass SkillsUSA seeks clothing for Night to Shine event

VALDOSTA – The Wiregrass Georgia Technical College SkillsUSA chapter is seeking clothing items for First Baptist Church’s upcoming Night to Shine event.

The collection drive will provide free attire to attendees of the prom for people with disabilities.

This year’s event will be held at Rainwater Conference Center on Friday, Feb. 9, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.The chapter is accepting clean, gently-used or new items of all sizes including men’s jackets, pants and suits, party, prom or formal dresses, dress shirts and flat or heel shoes.

Accessories such as jewelry, wraps, handbags, clutches, bow ties, neck ties and dress shoes for men are needed.

Larger sizes and men’s clothing are a major need, according to the event flyer.

Donations are still being accepted; pickups are available if needed.

Night to Shine guests will have the opportunity to select their attire and accessories at boutique days held through January.

Last year’s guest attendance had approximately 250 people. First Baptist Church expects a larger g suest list this year, which highlights the need for attire.
